“Alexander Wang steps up to the plate… The pitch, he swings! It was a grand slam!”
And rightfully so. His girls came dressed in tan baseball shorts, old school leather football helmets and a hand bag that looked similar to the shape of a rugby ball. Wang showed his imagination through the tailoring of sheer blouses with broad, crowned shoulders intertwined with beautiful khaki corsets detailed with black lacing that mimicked shoulder pads. It was easy to see the theme Alexander was inspired by–sporty and sexy. With a runway as long as a football field, the girls marched from behind a white wall the stretched the width of Pier 59. Every girl came out in white, knee high socks that resembled shin guards. He based his color palate on khaki, tan and black. He also splashed metallics and reds and stripes onto pieces. The girls strutted their stuff in Wang’s empowering presentation. Over all, the show was attention grabbing from the music, to the energy and down to the uproar Anna Wintor was causing while sitting front and center by fast clicking popparazzi and video cameras.
