East Coast, Meet My Friend, West Coast

East Coast prep meets laid-back Cali to become the signature style of the Trovata lifestyle brand. Beginning in founder John Whitledge’s Claremont McKenna dorm room, Trovata originated as a menswear line and expanded to incorporate women as well. After it was picked up by Barney’s in 2002, Trovata grew with each season to eventually  incorporate women’s wear, sunglasses, shoes, done with collaborative efforts from Vans and Toms Shoes, and limited-edition handbags done as a result of a joint venture with Barney’s.

Trovata speaks classic American, bringing back old-school styles with hipster twists making it appealing to just about everyone. Perfect for the day at the beach, the New York City side walk, or even the Hampton’s polo match. The Trovata Women’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection includes an array of button-down colored dresses, Bermudas, blouses, shift dresses and the quintessential prep item, cardigans.

Real breath takers included an ensemble composed of white short shorts and a black and white flower patterned blouse with a timeless sunhat. For dress options, fashionistas must consider the button down collared dresses accompanied with a cream and navy striped tied belt and of course, my personal favorite, a dramatic floppy brimmed hat. For cooler weather, Trovata offers a navy shift dress with side pocket and button detailing on the sleeves paired with a light blue roped belt, cinching in the waist.
