For Spring 2010, Israeli designer Lia Kes presents pieces exuding edge and elegance leaving the masses slightly gawking and wanting more. Kes’s desire to create versatile pieces that may easily transition from day to night is obvious with her ensembles ranging from trendy leather jackets, structural dresses and loose fitting pants. While there is no mistaking the femininity of Lia Kes’s collection, with form-fitting dresses and backless shirts, the hint of masculinity is what keeps buyers on their toes and makes Kes’s designs totally unique.
What is awe inspiring about Lia Kes’s collection is how it reflects Lia herself and her life experiences. Beginning at age 12, while living in Kibbutz Afkim, Kes began to sewing her own wardrobe to exemplify her individuality. Kes even draws influence from her experience in the Israeli Air Force, which explains the masculine inspiration in Lia’s line.
These designs are not for the faint of heart and meant to make a fashion statement. Particularly inspiring is Lia’s black jumper with a gray short sleeved jacket to go with it (pictured at the top). The ensemble screams sophisticated chic and is perfect for dinners out or the more trendy office environment.
For the flirt in all of us, Lia provides a light orange dress with short sleeves and low-draped back. The structured outline reflects Lia’s infusion of masculinity, while the low back and short hem length are more feminine.
Now in its’ fifth season, Lia Kes is now available in Barney’s Co-Op, Calypso, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus Cusp and Fred Siegal. Celeb Lia Kes lovers include Kate Hudson, Kim Kardashian, Giuliana Rancic, Angela Basset, Maggie Grace, Catt Sadler and Sarah Mclachlan. See below for more of her Spring/Summer 2010 collection!
