Café Habana, in the center of New York’s Nolita district, is one of the city’s best-kept secrets, even though apparently most of New York seems to know about it. At 17 Prince St. between Elizabeth and Mott Streets, this tiny restaurant packs in more Latin American/Cuban spirit then it does seats for its customers.
The brainchild of artist and restaurateur Sean Meenan, Café Habana prides itself on not only its mouth-watering cuisine, but also on its unwavering devotion to the protection of the environment. Café Habana is an “eco-eatery,” a space entirely dependent on environmentally friendly and sustainable goods. Through its design, construction, and everyday operation, this bistro is doing its part to save the planet, one dish at a time.
Open daily from 9 AM to Midnight, Café Habana is a good choice for any meal. Whatever time you choose to dine, the “famous corn” is a must-order and is good enough to make a whole meal out of. The café also sports a fully-stocked bar. Try one of their frozen margaritas, a great match for any meal. Although they do not take reservations and the wait might sometimes be a bit long, the overall experience is most definitely worth it. Rest assured that both your taste buds and the earth with thank you later.
