Karen Sabag’s collection of evening attire was truly a sight to see. An FIT graduate, Karen has only been out of school for four years and yet has managed to create multiple evening and bridal collections, even winning an award from famed wedding boutique, Kleinfeld’s, for her elaborate designs. Her Spring/Summer 2010 collection paid no attention to our economically wary times as her embellished gowns seemed to become more ornate with each passing style. Taking her inspiration from the streets of Barcelona, she created adorable cocktail dresses with a unique flair in mints, pinks and whites. Outward ruffles extended from the sides of a high-necked white satin mini-dress and a black silk belt decorated with Swarovski crystals wrapped around the waist of a two-tone v-necked cocktail dress. Floor-length gowns were embellished with French lace, intricate beading and hand-worked corsets (her trademark feature).

Karen also presented us with formal suits with a forties and fifties-like feel. Her designs covered every age group and every type of dress you could possibly need for a formal occasion. Full skirts were created using outward pleating, a style her fashion-conscious customers will be sure to love. However, it was her wedding dress that really stole the show. As the final look, this dress featured an entire corselet of Swarovski crystals, a full skirt with layers of silk organza, an over-sized bow at the waist and a crystal headpiece that rivaled that of Celine Dion. Springtime bridal parties everywhere will be thanking their lucky stars for Karen Sabag.
