Our Own Review: Maybelline Color Sensation Lipstick Line

I’ve never been the lipstick wearing type of gal. Some sheer gloss or chap stick and I’m out the door to start my day. I thought that lipstick was too bold of a statement for every day garb. Besides, there are so many different brands and colors out there; I’m slightly overwhelmed when walking through Sephora. Well lucky for readers who agree with my dilemma, Maybelline just made the choice easier. Their new Color Sensational line is fabulous at a great price.
Now I’ve seen the color sensational campaigns for Maybelline and their catch phrase is “fall in love with color all over again.” Lip-glosses and stains have been prominent in recent trends, but daring colors are making their way back. Which was why I was excited when the WhatsWear office received new samples of lipsticks in gorgeous glossy cases for us to try. I took the package home and gave a few a shot.
Since I’ve always been attracted to glamorous red colors, Very Cherry was the first sample I tried on. As I uncapped the tube, the color effortlessly glided onto my lips. The color seemed so pure and vibrant. All of the lipsticks from this new line are made from pure pigments and are creamy. There are forty-eight shades to choose from categorized in reds, plums, naturals and pinks. There’s a color for everyone. Next I tried on Yummy Plummy and found it to be over the top for my personal taste. While I still admired the color, I wiped away some of it for a lip stain effect. I applied clear gloss over my lips and as my day went on was amazing that the color stayed in place.
This new line made me seriously rethink using my lips as an accenting accessory to an outfit. I know I keep emphasizing the smoothness of the lipsticks but it’s no exaggeration. No more worries of dry and cracking lips with color. Granted, not every color will look great on everyone but there is a color in the line for you. Apply for an added oomph for your everyday wardrobe.
