Run In Your Dress Shoes: Rockport DresSports

Friday morning, Rockport revealed their secret shoe weapon: a dress shoe you can run in. No, scratch that. A dress shoe you can run a marathon in. Lead by Bachelor Andy Baldwin, the relaunched Rockport DresSport shoe will be put to the test as a team of seven athletes aim to run the NYC marathon in under three hours aided by their snappy looking DresSport shoes. I was amazed at how this formal dressy pair could be lighter than most running sneakers, a surprise to both myself and Andy Baldwin who almost didn’t believe it himself when Rockport approached him with this interesting challenge. The DresSport collection is comprised of four different styles with the most famous item being the limited-edition DresSport. Only 500 pairs were made, the first given to President Obama, the second to Vice President Biden and the third, just yesterday morning, to Andy Baldwin. What sets this pair apart from the normal DresSport shoe is two main features:
1) “a unique foot bed [that] illustrates New York City streets and Central Park, where the New York Marathon finishes.”
2) ” A specially designed heel logo [that] features an icon of a former Rockport marketing executive completing the 1990 NYC Marathon in his DresSports.”
The shoes go on sale today and $20 from each sale will go towards ING’s “Run for Something Better” program, which works to help schools develop running and fitness programs to combat child obesity. My advice to those who want a pair of these amazing dress shoes would be to log on to Rockport’s website and complete your order as your first order of morning business. Even if you aren’t running Sunday, these shoes will be sure to assist you in your “daily marathon” just as well.

Hey!
This is an awesome story.
I think Rockport do marathons worldwide as I’ve read about the Managing Director of Rockport getting his staff to run the Dublin marathon in rockport shoes to shoe how comfortable they are.
It’s a pretty good advertising technique if you ask me!
Love Those Shoes are running a competition at the moment where you can win a free pair of shoes if you answer a question about the Dublin marathon. If you go to http://www.lovethoseshoes.com/rockportcompetition/ you can enter it.
