Spring 2010 Trend Alert: Peep-Toe Shoes

Toes have been making a subtle appearance in the trends for this coming Spring/Summer season. The variety of runways that this trend has been seen on is only equivalent to the versatile looks accompanying it. Carolina Herrera’s Spring/Summer Show featured peep-toes pounding the runway in NYC. Peep-toes strutted their way through London Fashion Week in ensembles by Burberry Prorsum and Issa. Milan was mobbed by models sporting the peep-toe trend in the Spring/Summer collections of Dolce and Gabanna and Gucci, while Paris embraced the trend during the Dior Show.

The peep toes were accompanied with everything from elegant floor length gowns, bold leather shorts and bohemian tops. The peep-toe shoe is the dream accessory: it not only goes with every look, but also enhances it. Peep-toe shoes are an OK for all seasons: great for the light-summer looks, but paired with tights, the peep-toes are actually perfect for winter nights out. A favorite look of mine for this trend, are funky tights with basic black peep toes, a great strategy to add edge to your look. Any body type will do for this trend, but pedicures are recommended. What to watch for: make sure the shoe fits, while the trend flatters all, it is unforgiving for those who wear shoes who are too small for them. Embrace your larger foot size, you can’t tell in peep-toes!
