Everyone’s faced scrunched up as we acknowledged that overalls were fated to come back for Spring/Summer 2010. Sure, I’ve worn overalls. It was in 8th grade. What relevancy could overalls possibly have in 2010?
After viewing the various overall styles, I was relieved that these pieces wouldn’t make us look straight off the farm. The overall got a much needed makeover thanks to the likes of Jean Paul Gaultier and can be expected to make a notable appearance come spring.
I am officially obsessed with ChloĆ©’s tan leather overalls. This to me is the chicest a pair of overalls can hope to get. This piece will be sure to please those wary of the overall and, as shown above, looks perfect as a unique weekend look (especially when paired with a long cape and funky heels!). Ralph Lauren also gave the overall a different look when he took this style formal and turned it into a beautiful silver cocktail gown (shown below).
The overall got urbanized at Jean Paul Gaultier and cropped at Cynthia Steffe. It went vintage earlier on at Ralph Lauren and emitted a rock-n-roll feel at L.A.M.B when paired with a ruffled crop top (pictured below).
When choosing to don overalls, many things can go wrong very quickly. You must remember to pair perfectly to avoid any fashion”don’t” moments. If you are going casual, try an adorable light printed button down. For a night out, pair overalls with funky sandals and a dressier top. Overalls don’t complement every body type, so play with different overall styles to really get the right one for your body.
