Visual Inspiration for your Halloween Weekend
I find myself being a more visual person. For Halloween this year I made an inspiration board, and had so much fun doing it I had to share it with you. I started with two images that motivated me. With an eerie ink illustration from Edward Gorey and a fabulous shot from one of my favorite Halloween movies; The Rocky Horror Picture Show, I began. I put together this collage simply to inspire, make you smile and get you in the mood for the night of mischief. Click on the image to make it bigger if needed. Enjoy!

Spring 2010 Trend Alert: Sheer Layers

Sheer layered material, is one of those trends that never tires, never goes out of date and almost anyone can pull off. The S/S 2010 runway collections used sheer fabrics in almost every aspect possible, and this is a trend I must say I am looking forward to.
This season in Milan, Galliano displayed arguably his most innovative collection, using a heavy amount of sheer fabrics. Galliano had created sheer sleeves all the way to a fully sheer dress. The sheer sleeves accenting the dress can make toned arms look even more sexy. Galliano also used sheer patches of fabric to accentuate the hips, making the waist appear smaller (pictured above).
In New York, ADAM used sheer material layered on top of his dresses, leaving the neckline sheer in a more retro fashion. By exposing just your neck and upper chest, this piece is the perfect way to don sheer fabrics for those who are shy about showing off their body. In Paris, Miu Miu used sheer fabrics for a more revealing reason…as a base to for embroidery (pictured above). Allowing some parts of the body to be seen, Miu Miu’s figure-hugging pieces covered other areas with an embroidered patterns of jewels and artistically created designs.
Finally, in London, Matthew Williamson took another daring approach when he showed completely see-through tanks and blouses with opaque pockets covering up body parts you can’t legally show in public (shown above). This look is definitely not for the faint-hearted fashionista. When looking to add a sheer item to your wardrobe make sure it brings out a place on your body worth highlighting. If you have long slender arms, maybe a sheer sleeve would work best. Sheer fabric always looks great on the shoulders, chest and back for almost any body type.
